How can I create a training plan?
Login, click on the Training Plans link that can be found on your sites main navigation bar. Click on Create a Plan and start by filling in basic information including plan name, sport, level (beginner, intermediate, advanced), intended duration and you can add a description including information such as plan goals. You can also decide on a start/end date – although at this stage if you haven’t decided this, don’t worry as this is something you can leave and do at a later date. Now click on save.
The page will now load a calendar based upon the information you have provided (ie duration of plan). Click the add link on any day to add a training session - you can add as many sessions as you like for any day. Fill in the pop up that appears with information on your planned training session.
Tip: If you intend repeating a session on a regular frequency (eg weekly) you can use the repeat links to add multiple training sessions in one go. For example type in Repeat every 7 days for the next 4 weeks to repeat a session weekly for the next 4 weeks.
If you have made an error and wish to delete a session, click on the red delete icon.
By placing your mouse on a session you can drag it to a different day. To copy a session to another date, rather than just move it, hold down ctrl before you start dragging.
Once you have completed filling in your training plan, click save again. Tip: You can choose to save a training plan even if it’s not complete and come back to it at a later date to amend or add more sessions.
How can I view my training plan?
Once you have created a training plan, you can view it in a diary view, list view or graph view. If you have chosen an actual start or end date for your plan, the actual dates that you plan to complete a training session will be displayed.
How can I add a training plan to my training log and compare actual workouts to my plan?
Login, click on the Training Plans link that can be found on your sites main navigation bar. Click on My Plans and find the plan you are looking for. If you didn’t define a start or end date for your plan when you created a plan, click on edit and do so now. By defining a start or end date for your plan, your planned training sessions will now appear in your training log.
During the lifespan of a training plan, when you go to add a workout, you will in the advanced fields see an additional data-field that you can use to link an actual workout to a training plan.
Now go back to your training plans and view the plan you are currently doing in list view. You will now see your planned training sessions are colour coded - Green indicates an activity that has been completed exceeding the distance/time specified in a planned training session. Red indicates an activity that has been completed with a lower distance/time than that specified in a planned training plan. Black indicates a missed training session or a training session planned for a future date.
How can I repeat a training plan I have previously created?
Login, click on the Training Plans link that can be found on your sites main navigation bar. Click on My Plans and find the plan you are looking for. Click on the re-use plan link – this creates a copy of the original plan. You can now either add a new start date and repeat exactly the same plan or take the opportunity to edit and make changes to the plan.
Can I view and use another person’s training plans?
By default when you add a plan it is Public (other users can see it and if they choose follow their own version of your plan); you can choose to change the setting to Private, so that only you can see your plan.
How can I find a training plan that’s right for me?
Login, click on the Training Plans link that can be found on your sites main navigation bar and click on Find a Plan. If you know a plan’s name (or part of its name), then fill in the name field and click find. Alternatively, you can select a sport (eg cycling) and a level (eg beginner, intermediate or advanced) to find plans that are of interest/relevant to you.
Once you have found a plan that looks interesting, check out the diary, list and graph views to see whether the volume and intensity of planned sessions is right for you (there’s no point looking to undertake a plan that has 15 hours of training a week if you only have say a max 7 hours available for training per week). If you like the look of a plan, simply click on Add to my plans.
