Frequently Asked Questions
How do I create a route?
Login, click on the Routes link that can be found on your sites main navigation bar and then click on the Add Route Tab/link. Give your route a name, add a description and choose whether the route will be public (Can be seen by everyone) or Private (Can only be seen by you once you’re logged in). Type a location into the Search field and click on the Search link to zoom the map into a specific area.
By default the route mapping tool will display distance markers and follow roads. You can turn these functions off at any time. There are a range of functions designed to help you to easily and quickly create routes and undo any mistakes along the way. Once you’re done, click save. Elevation is auto-calculated and will be displayed as you create your route.
Which map sources can I use?
By default our routes displays Google Maps and Open Street Map (OSM). Note: In a future release we will also be adding OCM Cycle Maps.
Can I import and export routes?
You can’t right now, but we have an upgrade scheduled for release before the end of 2011 that will include a facility to import/export GPX and TCX files.
How can I find a route?
Login, click on the Routes link that can be found on your sites main navigation bar. Click on my routes to find the routes that you have created/completed. You can filter this list by entering a route name into the search field and clicking search. Note: there is a release update scheduled that will include geo-location search functions.
How can I see the detail of a route?
Once you have found a route you are interested in, click on the view route detail link to view a larger size version of the route and elevation information. You can change the size of the pop-up box by grabbing the bottom right hand corner and zoom in and out on a route by using the +/- functions on the map.
How can I attach a route to an activity in My Training Log?
There are two ways that you can attach a route to a workout in your training diary:
From routes - Once you have found the route you want to add a workout with (see FAQ above), click on the add a workout link and the page will refresh in “Add activity” mode with the route already pre-loaded.
From your training diary – Login and click on the Add activity link that can be found on the right hand side of the site or alternatively click on the My Training log link that can be found on your sites main navigation bar. There are two ways that you can add an activity. Firstly, you can manually add a workout creating or attaching a route to your activity by clicking the select route or create route links. Alternatively you can add an activity through importing external files such as Garmin TCX or by syncing your training log to your Nike + account. If the imported data file contains route information, this will automatically be displayed on your workout. If it doesn’t (as is the case with Polar HRM files) you can manually create or attach a route to your activity by editing the activity and clicking the select route or create route links.
Can I see the fastest time that has been achieved on a specific route?
Once you have found the route you are interested in (see FAQ above), click on the view best times link and the page will refresh to show you the best times achieved by you and any other users who have also added a workout with this route. You can click on the table header links (eg name, date, speed) to re-sort how the data is displayed.
