Fingers Crossed

good luck to everyone over the magical 100 mile mark!

I never win these kind of things but i really need this one so all my fingers and toes will be crosssed from now until the draw! it is difficult to type with crossed fingers though!

There's only so many tunes you can play with basic GPS results

    distance - time - elevation - sessions - speed

Most have been done. Elevation (again) might be good at this time of year - you don't need to go too high to encounter snow.

    Still impresive mate!

I'm clocking my final 700 miles for 10k but this is whole year worth of riding...

    Cheers!

    I.

    Hey meanredspider et al.

We're just starting to work though ideas for new challenges for the next few months.

Here's some new challenge ideas we've been thinking about:

    - Improvement challenges looking at % time / speed improvement month on month over a specific distance

    - Best All Rounder Challenges based on ave speed over different distances eg 10miles, 25, 50 etc

    - Endurance challenges - Longest rides

    - Time trials - fastest ave speed over specific distances

    - Team challenges where people have to pal up with other members

Be great to hear what you guys think & any other ideas you have....

Some good ideas there - timing is everything though. My times have gone off a cliff because it's dark, wet and cold and there's lots of nasty wet leaves and mud on my route. Now I'm on the MTB with studded ice tyres because it has snowed and the temp isn't going to get much above freezing this week. All of these things make the speed challenges pretty unappealling this side of April. TT is interesting - would it be easy enough to "police" to stop me driving to Glenshee to start so I can cover the first mile at 50mph? Net change in elevation of no more than +/-X?

i think at this time of year the grittier challenges are probably more interesting - distance, elevation, frequency but it's tough to think up original ideas unless, say, you did a medley of all 3 (or more): 20 rides, 10,000ft and 300 miles kinda thing - or 5 rides one week, 5000ft the next and 100 miles the next.

Or, for fun, an international challenge - England, vs Scotland vs Germany etc

Finally, maybe a Boxing Day ride mini challenge.

Hi meanredspider - Nice,  International or inter-regional challenges would work well +like the  boxing day mini challenge (love your bike more than your family - prove it by riding on Xmas / Boxing Day!!)
