Some good ideas there - timing is everything though. My times have gone off a cliff because it's dark, wet and cold and there's lots of nasty wet leaves and mud on my route. Now I'm on the MTB with studded ice tyres because it has snowed and the temp isn't going to get much above freezing this week. All of these things make the speed challenges pretty unappealling this side of April. TT is interesting - would it be easy enough to "police" to stop me driving to Glenshee to start so I can cover the first mile at 50mph? Net change in elevation of no more than +/-X?
i think at this time of year the grittier challenges are probably more interesting - distance, elevation, frequency but it's tough to think up original ideas unless, say, you did a medley of all 3 (or more): 20 rides, 10,000ft and 300 miles kinda thing - or 5 rides one week, 5000ft the next and 100 miles the next.
Or, for fun, an international challenge - England, vs Scotland vs Germany etc
Finally, maybe a Boxing Day ride mini challenge.
