I am living and working in France. The area around where I live is excellent for cycling both on and off road. For the off road I ride a Specialized Rockhopper SL and for the road a Specialized Roubaix Elite.
I took up cycling after knee problems induced by running. I started with off road a few years ago and took up road cycling just over a year ago. I seem to be doing more road now
I cycle most Sunday mornings all year round and if the weather is no good then I use the turbo
